Tips to save money in Las Vegas

It’s a new year and one of people’s top resolutions is to save money. Just because you’re watching your wallet doesn’t mean you can’t have a great time in Las Vegas. We have created some tips that will help you save some money while you are in Las Vegas.

  • Be Flexible With Your Reservation Dates: When you’re looking to book a trip to Las Vegas and want the best room rates available, be flexible about when you come. Instead of traveling on a weekend, try a weekday and you’ll probably see a cheaper fare. Avoid big holidays like New Year’s Eve or Memorial Day weekend and big conventions and you’ll also avoid higher hotel rates.
  • Get a player card – Most resorts offer the opportunity to join your player’s club for free. The card basically keeps track of your bets at the casino. You insert the card into a slot machine when playing or hand it over to the dealer when playing a table game. The more you play, the more points you earn, and those points translate into rewards like free food, show tickets, hotel rooms, gifts, and more. Some hotels will also allow you to earn points not only by gambling, but also by eating at their restaurants or buying other things at the hotel.
  • Take advantage of the dining offerings: Buffets are a Las Vegas institution for a reason. They usually cost less than a meal in a normal restaurant, plus you can eat as much as you want. Go at lunch time and eat a great meal. It is cheaper than the dinner price but with many of the same foods. You can also try a Buffet of Buffets pass, which is good for 24 hours of unlimited access to any of the seven buffets at participating Caesars Entertainment properties. Las Vegas also has plenty of food specials, happy hours, and late-night bargains.
  • Buy a Dinner and Show Package – If you want to have a good night on the town in Las Vegas, it often involves going to dinner and seeing a show. If you bundle the two together, it can definitely save you money. Shows like the Blue Man Group, Jersey Boys, Rock of Ages and more have ticket packages available that include a pre-show meal.
  • Keep an eye out for deals and specials: Sometimes when you check in to your hotel, they’ll hand you a coupon book or other brochures. Be sure to take a look through them. Sometimes they include things like club passes or discounts at hotel restaurants. Many shows, tours, and hotels offer regular deals.
  • Take advantage of the free/cheap attractions: Believe it or not, there are plenty of Las Vegas attractions to entertain you that don’t cost a dime. Enjoy the beautiful fountains of Bellagio or the striking lights of the Fremont Street Experience for free. There are also quite a few things to do in the city that, while not free, are under $20.
  • Catch an Afternoon Show – If you want to see a good show in Las Vegas, you don’t have to spend tons of money. Try an afternoon show like Mac King or Jeff Civillico, they are incredibly entertaining shows that won’t break your bank. There are also a variety of shows in Las Vegas that offer everything from live music to comedy and magic for under $50.
  • Rent a car in Las Vegas: If you are flying into Las Vegas and looking for transportation to your hotel, you may want to check prices for limousines or city cars. If you have a group of several people and split the cost, it can sometimes be cheaper than taking a taxi. Renting a large vehicle, such as an SUV or minivan, can allow you to travel with a large group of friends or family. Some rental agencies may also provide customers with a 9 or 15 passenger van.
