Top attractions in Paris

Paris, France is the home of European refinement and love. Fashion, historical culture and excess seem to be just around the corner. While there are plenty of things to do in Paris, there are five attractions that everyone should see at least once when they visit Paris.

Eiffel Tower

Built in 1889, the Eiffel Tower is the icon of Paris. It was erected as a tribute to the end of the French Revolution, but today it is one of the most well-known and recognizable buildings in the world.

The magic of the Eiffel Tower can really be felt when you venture to the top for a spectacular view of Paris. Climbing to the top of the Tower just before sunset offers the best views. Please don’t try to climb the stairs. You can reach the first two levels of the observation decks on foot, but why settle for that when you can ride the elevator to the top? Somehow sweating and gasping for breath as you climb the flights of stairs steals the romantic vibe of the Eiffel Tower, but there are some fitness gurus who give walking or even running a try. After dark, you can see the lights of the Tower shine in the twilight. Lights go out at 2am, so be sure to check out before then.

Port

The Louvre is one of the main attractions in Paris and one of the most famous art museums in the world. Don’t make the mistake of thinking you can see it in a day. It will likely take you three days to examine the famous work of art and admire the majesty of the Louvre.

The Louvre houses famous works of art such as the Venus de Milo and the Mona Lisa. Make sure you don’t miss a trip to the Louvre on your next visit to Paris.

Elysian Fields

The Champs Elysées is a famous stretch of road that runs through the center of Paris. It starts at the Arc de Triomphe and continues to Place de la Concorde and is lined with shops, cafes and 5 star hotels.

Bring comfortable shoes as you’ll want to walk this avenue to get the full experience. Christmas and New Years are favorite times to visit the Champs Elysées for the lights and the hustle and bustle of the holidays.

Sena river

The Seine River meanders through the center of Paris. Taking one of the available river cruises is a popular way to see the many sights of Paris. Take a night cruise to see the lights of Paris: it’s a completely different cruise to see the city at night.

It is also fun to walk along the banks of the Seine River. Among all the popular buildings, art and monuments, you will find small stalls where people sell tourist items and souvenirs from Paris.

Versailles

Take a short train ride to Versailles to visit the Château de Versailles, one of the largest castles in the world and home to the King. The Chateau de Versailles has more than 700 rooms, 1,250 fireplaces, 2,000 windows, 67 staircases and more than 1,800 acres of gardens. It is a magnificent house that has now been transformed into a museum. You can take a tour of the castle or walk the grounds yourself. There are also open-air restaurants and toilets available for tourists.

When on vacation in Paris, stay at Le Meridien Etoile, located on the River Seine, a stone’s throw from the Champs-Elysées, the Arc de Triomphe and the Louvre. This hotel boasts elegant rooms, fantastic room service and the best location in Paris.

These five attractions are just a small sample of the variety of fun, interesting, and culturally educational things to do in Paris.
