Buccaneers sign a true trouper

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have made another move to bolster their tight end position with the signing of former Tennessee Titan and Florida Gator Ben Troupe.

At 624 and 270 pounds, Troupe is an incredibly talented athlete. His obvious size, along with his soft hands and deceptive speed, has caused plenty of heartache ever since the big tight end left the swamp as one of the year’s most promising prospects and eventually the 40th pick in the 042 Draft from the NFL.

Joining the Bucs, Troupe brings with him 106 career sacks for 1,056 and seven TDs. Although most of those numbers came during his first two seasons when he exploded onto the NFL scene with 88 receptions for 5 TDs and 859 yards!

While playing with an injured foot that would eventually send him to injured reserve, Ben Troupe managed to catch 13 balls for 150 yards and two TDs. Even though last year was a negative year statistically, I think the Buccaneers have signed Ben Troupe, the playmaker.

As he comes to Tampa looking for a fresh start, he will now be paired with Alex Smith and newly signed John Gilmore. And with the possibility of giant Jerramy Stevens returning, the Buccaneers may have one of the best Tight End teams in the entire league.

Combine that with the deceptive speed and skill of the perennial Joey Galloway, the acquisitions of Antonio Bryant and Warrick Dunn along with the leadership of signal caller Jeff Garcia and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have equipped themselves with quite a bit of offensive power. I can only imagine.
