Sex is an art practiced for centuries and is described in all religions and carved in various temples of the Hindu religion. There are various postures and positions explained in kamasutra to achieve divine pleasure and enlightenment. Kamasutra is a sacred book on love in the Indian civilization that describes a large number of positions for intercourse or lovemaking.

The Kama Sutra manual has 36 chapters, organized into seven parts, each written by experts in the respective fields. In ancient times, these manuals used to be given to girls approaching puberty to prepare them for a fulfilling sexual life. Each posture is given a special name such as – conjunction of sun and moon; split a bamboo; position of a cow, a dog, a tiger, a horse, a monkey, a crab, a turtle, an elephant.

There are more than 200 different positions in which it is possible to make love. Many of these positions differ so slightly that one wonders if they make any difference. Others are so complicated that you feel very excited to get into them. Some are so complex that only an athlete can do them.

You can enjoy the sexual act sitting, standing or crouching. But the main and most common position is the couple in face-to-face positions. It has the advantage of easy entry, facilitation of kisses, caresses, but restricts active participation by women. It is also called the Missionary Position.

But this position is not very good for women with a heavy partner. He also doesn’t allow her penis to penetrate very deeply, unless the woman puts a cushion under her bottom or lifts her legs by bending her partner’s shoulders.

The main objectives of the different positions are:

1. To increase sexual pleasure, since variety is the essence of attraction. The repetition of some conventional postures tends to make sex mechanical and boring.
2. To increase the chance of conception.
3. To prevent hygienic hazards or injuries such as pregnancy.
4. Keep couples fit and strong for longer.
5. To increase libido, endurance, performance and potency.

Different sexual positions are designed for different purposes. There are some specific positions that facilitate ejaculation inside the vagina that helps the sperm penetrate the uterus immediately. There are some other positions of the female genitalia that consist of depositing the semen in the immediate vicinity of the cervix, even after the cessation of orgasm increases the probability of fertilization, as does the retention of the erection within the vagina.
Few positions decrease the chances of conception.
