Tools for the energetic protection of an empath

Common traits of an empath and why they need protection:

Empaths are drawn to healing themselves and others. They are usually drawn to healing, because they feel they have a lot of inner healing to do…until, that is, they realize that most of the healing needed is for others who intuitively ‘feel’.

They are usually in a state of constant fatigue. This is a big problem. People, along with their energies, constantly invade the energy of an empath. An empath will usually take on too much and become exhausted very quickly, and is not easily cured by sleep or rest. It goes much deeper than that and is quite exhausting.

Empaths are excellent listeners. They genuinely care about the well-being of others and find themselves listening to the problems of people they don’t even know. Most people find it just as easy to open up to empaths. That’s when they start to dump all kinds of negativity into their life. Sometimes people are not even aware that they are doing this.

In most cases, an empath will take care of the needs of others even before their own, because they care so much. Since people feel comfortable enough around them to open up, they will usually selflessly lend their ear to help a person; even if it is to your own detriment.

Alone time is a must for an empath. Many empaths like to get away from all emotions and energies that are not their own, thus requiring some much-needed time alone. This is the time for you to come back into balance and distance yourself from all negativity that is not yours.

An empath can also appear moody. Empaths sometimes seem to have big mood swings, and this sometimes contributes to all the overwhelming thoughts and feelings that bombard them on a daily basis. Not only are you bombarded with these energies, but you now need to clearly sort through and figure out all the things that come your way.

They are emotionally sensitive to violence, cruelty or any kind of tragedy. Most empaths stop watching TV and reading newspapers at some point in their lives, as this too can be very overwhelming for an empath.

Simple knowledge is also a common empathic trait. Empaths sometimes know things that are positive that they were never taught or told. This knowledge is very different from intuition or a hunch.

Being in public places is often overwhelming or painful for an empath. Again, so many people’s emotions are in public places that they can be captured when not even trying. This is a rollercoaster that most empaths will avoid at all costs.

An empath can ‘feel’ honesty and integrity. They can tell if someone is being honest or not, which is very disturbing and sometimes painful in your life. It is especially disturbing when it comes to loved ones.

Feeling the physical symptoms and pains of another. Many empaths will find themselves developing an understanding that another person has that has nothing to do with them. This is empathy at its finest.

These are just some of the traits of an empath. Once again, being an empath can be considered a curse or a gift, depending on the tools you use to protect yourself. There are many ways empaths protect themselves. Avoiding large social gatherings or public places at all costs is one way. But there are times when you just can’t avoid these things. There are quite a few useful ways to protect yourself as an empath. This is what I like to keep in what I call ‘My bag of tricks’: I use crystals, meditation and the white light of protection.

CRYSTALS

Pink quartz It is a fantastic crystal for an empath because its healing properties promote unconditional love and comfort. This is especially good for a person who may have less than loving energies for something, someone, or even themselves.

black tourmaline Prayed Hematite They are also great crystals for an empath to help them stay grounded. These stones will also help absorb any negative energy.

Malachite it is another crystal that will help you absorb any negative feelings you may have; whether they are yours or not!

labradorite it is a crystal that will really help protect your aura from being absorbed by any issues that are shared with you.

citrine It is a yellow crystal to help brighten your mood. Another healing property of Citrine is that it can also help absorb bad energy from your surroundings.

Another go to Crystal for me is Amethyst. It is not only beautiful, but it will strengthen your intuition. Heightened intuition is wonderful for everyone, but especially for empaths to help them really know if the feelings they may be having are their own or not.

Last but not least, there is rainbow fluorite. Rainbow Fluorite may very well be, in my opinion, the Mother of all crystals for an Empath, as she aids all levels of being! This is a multicolored crystal that can help you stay grounded, help clear and balance all Chakras, as well as help you stay in tune with higher dimensions.

These are my personal crystals to help keep me centered, grounded, protected, and in tune. Crystals can and will help heal your life!

Meditation

Meditation has been used for thousands of years as a way to reach a level of consciousness that is beyond the limitations of the everyday thinking mind. Quite simply, it is the practice of uniting mind, body, and spirit.

Most don’t realize that our bodies are meant to self-correct to maintain positive health simply by keeping mind, body, and spirit in balance. Imagine how easy it is to lose balance when the energy of others infiltrates your body on a daily basis. It’s epic!

When you are out of balance, your life energy does not flow as it should. Being out of balance manifests in life as aches and pains. And when you’re out of balance for long enough, your body begins to create disease and illness.

Alone time and meditation are a wonderful way for an empath to stay balanced, healthy, and whole. This is the practice of loving yourself that most empaths put at the back of the queue, if they put it at all!

White Light of Protection

When I just can’t help but do things that don’t go above my ‘awe meter’, like walking into large crowds, I usually try to shield myself and my energy with ‘White Light’. A lot of people do it differently and there really isn’t a right or wrong way to do it, because it really comes down to the power of intention.

Take a few minutes for yourself and sit in a quiet place before doing anything. She closes her eyes and takes a few deep breaths. On each inhalation, visualize the white light of protection entering your body through the crown of your head and filling your entire being. Continue to inhale the white light and when your entire body is filled with light, imagine that the light now shines brightly and grows so large that it now shines out of you, surrounding your entire body. Sit breathing deeply for a few moments and feel the light around you. Now smile and have a little gratitude, because you just practiced self-love by putting yourself first. And you just protected yourself from all the negative and unwanted energies around you!
